A unique cleansing gel which is perfect for oily, troubled and acne skin thanks to the wonderful synergy of deep cleansing ingredients. Glycolic and lactic acid help the skin to naturally shed the dead skin cells which cause our pores to get clogged and leaves the skin looking dull and unhealthy while the salicylic acid works deep in the pores helping to reduce the size of enlarged pores and to clear blackheads. With regular use, skin becomes clearer, smoother and brighter.
How does it work?
Salicylic acid helps to unclog the pores and deeply exfoliate the skin, while natural Vitamin B Complex derived from Yeast Extract helps to regulate oil gland secretion to reduce the clogged pores, inflammations, and breakouts associated with an oily skin condition.
Natural botanicals include watercress extract which is high in vitamin C (ascorbic acid) known for clearing the complexion and has cleansing and healing properties, and lavender extract, renowned for its amazing healing and anti-inflammatory benefits.
Salicylic acid is a very effective ingredient for treating oily/acne skin types that are prone to open pores and blackheads. Because it has a larger molecular structure to Glycolic Acid it stays on the surface of the skin longer giving it fantastic pore clearing capabilities. Salicylic Acid resides deep in the heart of Willow Bark and Sweet Birch trees, and is the key ingredient for restoring purity and clarity to the skin. It is a highly effective peeling agent and an excellent pore cleanser with anti-wrinkle and anti-acne properties. It works by gently removing old cells from the skin, and also boosts collagen production which in turn can reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Salicylic Acid has an anti-inflammatory effect, making it useful for anyone with acne and Rosacea.
How does Glycolic Acid work?
Alpha-Hydroxy Acids are naturally occurring acids, derived from the sugars of selected plants and fruits such as Sugar Cane, Grapes, Citrus Fruits, Apples and Bitter Almonds. These acids perform at the base of the stratum corneum, dissolving the ‘glue’ that holds dead skin cells together. Because this increases cell turnover, skin becomes smoother, more elastic and more even in tone and texture.
At the same time Glycolic Acid also stimulates your skin to produce more collagen. Collagen is the main structural protein of the skin and keeps it elastic and line free; when this starts to disintegrate, skin begins to sag and wrinkle. Replacing the collagen your skin has lost with age can help diminish crow’s feet around the eyes, frown lines, and vertical lines around the lips.
Glycolic Acid has been known to help the following conditions:
* Acne
* Sun damaged skin
* Blotchy pigmentation (chloasma)
* Fine wrinkles
* Over production of sebum (oily skin)
* Shaving rash
* Scars
* Stretch marks
* Blackheads
* Dry skin
* Open Pores
* Milia
How is this good for spots?
The most common form of acne is caused as hair follicles get clogged by the oil your skin naturally produces. Normally the sebum (natural oil in skin) travels up the hair follicle and out to the surface of the skin. However, with acne, skin cell turnover is slowed, causing sebum to get trapped within the follicle, bacteria multiply within the clogged pores and so a spot is formed. Salicylic Acid helps by removing the old skin cells and the grime that's blocking up pores so stops the spot cycle. Salicylic acid will also help regulate the amount of oil your skin produces.

Skincare tips
Pour a small amount of cleanser into the palm of your hand and use your finger tips to massage over the face in an upwards circular motion. Rinse thoroughly with tepid water. If you wear make-up or work in an environment where your skin gets dirty or very oily then, as beauty therapists recommend, do a ‘double cleanse’ and repeat the cleansing process. We always recommend cleansing twice in the evening; no matter what product you use, one cleanse will not be enough.
When using any cleanser a toner is always advised. The toner helps refresh the skin in preparation for your moisturiser, for normal to combination the Purifying Calendula Toner and for oily/problem skin the Detoxifying Eucalyptus Toner.
When using any product containing glycolic acid you must use a moisturiser with a SPF of at least 15 during the day, if you plan on sunbathing or visiting a hot climate use a minimum factor 25.
Please Note: If this is your first purchase of this item we highly recommend you purchase a pump top from our accessories section as it makes dispensing of the product much easier. We no longer supply pump tops as standard as the pumps are reusable which is better for the environment.
DO NOT USE If you're pregnant/breastfeeding, under the age of 17, if you are undergoing any kind of intense beauty treatment (microdermabrasion, glycolic acid (at a salon) treatment, Retin-a, laser therapy etc) or if you're on medication which increases the skins sensitivity such as roaccutane
