This is Bravura London’s most requested product as it works for all but the most sensitive of skin types. Some people see results in their skin tone after the first application; the most common feedback we receive is that it leaves the skin glowing. With regular use, the skin begins to look and feel smoother and healthier, dry patches start to diminish, any age spots or discolouration start to fade and fine lines and wrinkles soften. In problem skin, spots start to clear and scarring begins to fade.
How does it work?
Alpha-hydroxy acids are naturally occurring acids, derived from the sugars of selected plants and fruits such as Sugar Cane, Grapes, Citrus Fruits, Apples and Bitter Almonds. These acids perform at the base of the stratum corneum, dissolving the ‘glue’ that holds dead skin cells together. Because this increases cell turnover, skin becomes smoother, more elastic and more even in tone and texture.
At the same time Glycolic Acid also stimulates your skin to produce more collagen. Collagen is the main structural protein of the skin and keeps it elastic and line free; when this starts to disintegrate, skin begins to sag and wrinkle. Replacing the collagen your skin has lost with age can help diminish crows' feet around the eyes, frown lines, and vertical lines around the lips.
Glycolic Acid has been known to help the following conditions
* Acne
* Sun damaged skin
* Blotchy pigmentation (chloasma)
* Fine wrinkles
* Over production of sebum (oily skin)
* Shaving rash
* Scars
* Stretch marks
* Blackheads
* Dry skin
* Open Pores
* Milia
How is this good for spots?
The most common form of acne is caused as hair follicles get clogged by dead skin cells and sebum - the oil your skin naturally produces. Bacteria multiply within the clogged pores and so spots and blackheads form. By removing the dead skin cells you are also removing the grime and excess oil that's blocking up the pores and exposing fresh, new skin that can breathe. Most people report that with regular use of AHA products, their once very oily skin changes to a combination type skin.
How does it reduce scars and wrinkles?
When new layers of skin grow they are following the pattern, or blueprint of the skin above them, so if you have scars in your skin that that is the blueprint the new skin is following. By removing the top layers of skin daily you are reducing that blueprint and so the scar will become less visible, slowly over time.
No topical treatments can reverse deep scarring but the Glycolic Acid 15% Night Treatment will make your skin smoother, and the scars less noticeable. The treatment also stimulates the production of collagen which keeps your skin smooth and firm. It also allows your moisturiser to penetrate the deeper layers of skin, and so the skin’s own regeneration process can happen more efficiently.
When using any product containing glycolic acid you must use a moisturiser with a SPF of at least 15 during the day, if you plan on sunbathing or visiting a hot climate use a minimum factor 25.
Skincare tips
Apply a small amount of moisturiser using gentle, upwards strokes over the face and neck after cleansing and toning in the evening.
If you find that your skin becomes sore and/or dry try using only the smallest amount, as it has a 15% content of glycolic acid you don't need much, apply enough to lightly cover the skin.
When first using this product, start by using it every other evening until you feel your skin can tolerate the cream every night.
Suitable for all skin types, if you have sensitive skin we recommend you do a patch test.
Most people find this is hydrating enough but if you feel your skin needs some additional moisture alternate with your regular moisturiser every other night.
DO NOT USE If you're pregnant/breastfeeding, under the age of 17, if you are undergoing any kind of intense beauty treatment (microdermabrasion, glycolic acid (at a salon) treatment, Retin-a, laser therapy etc) or if you're on medication which increases the skins sensitivity such as roaccutane.
