Lactic acid is a highly effective exfoliant. It works at the base of the epidermis (the skin's top layer), gently dissolving the "glue" that holds dead skin cells together so the fresh, healthy skin underneath can be revealed. This increased cell turnover is what makes skin look smoother and more even in tone and texture, something that becomes even more noticeable to maintain as skin matures and natural turnover slows down.

Lactic acid is also a humectant, meaning it helps draw water into the skin. Dehydrated skin often looks dull and sallow, so by increasing hydration in the upper layers of the skin, it helps skin appear plumper and more radiant.

AHAs like lactic acid also help your other products work harder. When dead skin cells and excess oil sit on the surface, even the best serums and moisturisers struggle to penetrate and do their job properly. By clearing away that barrier, lactic acid helps your skincare routine perform the way it's meant to, so you get more from every product you use afterwards, not just this one.

Lactic Acid 10% (true free acid content), formulated at a pH of 3.5–3.8, the maximum strength permitted for over-the-counter use. This gives you salon-level exfoliation you can do safely at home, when used as directed.

Vitamin B5 helps maintain hydration and support the skin's natural barrier, balancing the intensity of the peel with skin-replenishing care so your skin feels nourished, not stripped.

Aloe Vera, over 50% of this formula, chosen for its skin-soothing, antioxidant-rich properties that help calm and hydrate skin during exfoliation. We use a highly concentrated aloe powder rather than traditional gel, which lets us pack in more of aloe's beneficial compounds while keeping our production more sustainable and lower waste.

What's the difference between Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid?
Lactic acid is a gentler exfoliator than glycolic acid, and it's also a humectant, meaning it helps skin hold onto moisture as it exfoliates. It's particularly well suited if your skin is dry, dehydrated, or on the sensitive side, and it gives skin a plumped, hydrated glow. Glycolic acid has a smaller molecule size, so it works a little deeper and can deliver more intense results, but it can also be more drying. Many of our customers use lactic acid and glycolic acid alongside each other, alternating between the two, or use lactic acid on the days their skin needs a gentler touch.

Will my face be sore and peeling?
No. Despite the name, a chemical peel doesn't mean visible peeling. It simply speeds up the skin's natural exfoliation process, removing the built-up layer of dead skin without any scrubbing or manual exfoliation. What you will notice is smoother, brighter looking skin, not flaking or soreness.

Will it sting?
Some people notice a mild tingling for the first minute or two, especially the first few times you use it. This is normal and settles quickly. If you have sensitive skin, we always recommend doing a patch test first and starting with a shorter application time, building up gradually as your skin gets used to it.

How often should I use it?
Start once or twice a week and see how your skin responds. Once your skin has built up some tolerance, you can increase to every other day if you'd like more intensive results. There's no need to rush it, gentle and consistent use gets the best long-term results.

How long before I see results?
Many customers notice smoother, more radiant skin after just one use. For more visible improvement in tone and texture, we'd recommend using it consistently for at least 4 to 6 weeks, exfoliation works with your skin's natural renewal cycle, so it takes a little time.

Can I use this with my other skincare products?
Yes. In fact, lactic acid helps your other products work harder, by clearing away the dead skin cells that can act as a barrier, your serums and moisturisers are able to absorb more effectively afterwards.

Is this suitable for sensitive or mature skin?
Yes. This formula was specifically designed to be gentle enough for sensitive skin while still being effective. It's a favourite with customers who've struggled to find products that don't cause irritation, redness or breakouts, and works well for skin that's become drier or duller over time.

Do I need to wear sunscreen after using this?
Yes, always. Exfoliating acids can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, so we'd always recommend wearing an SPF the following day (and ideally every day) as part of your routine.
